April 10-12, 2024, April Faulkner, Community Relations Specialist with the Equity and Engagement Department, attended the 15th annual Welcoming Interactive in Dallas, Texas. The event, hosted by Welcoming America, focused on immigrant and refugee inclusion in American society. With more than 800 participants from various locations, the conference aimed to promote diversity and integration.
During the event, participants engaged in various activities aimed at promoting inclusion. The first day featured community tours emphasizing culturally responsive civic engagement, economic empowerment, mental health services, and civil rights, among other topics. The following two days offered 30 breakout sessions and plenary sessions covering a wide range of subjects, including language access, immigrant youth leadership, and resilience building.
