Arrest Made in February 19, 2024, Shooting Investigation

A Calumet City man is in custody following an investigation into a shooting incident from February 2024. According to the Champaign Police, the 34-year-old victim, who was treated for multiple potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds, was attacked while seated in his vehicle in his driveway. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Allen Williams, approached the vehicle and opened fire before fleeing the scene on foot. The vehicle was also damaged by the gunfire.

On April 23, 2024, Williams was apprehended by Champaign Police on charges of attempted first-degree murder. The arrest marked a significant development in the case, but authorities emphasize that the investigation is still ongoing. Police officers are actively searching the surrounding area for witnesses and potential video footage that could aid in the investigation.

In light of the ongoing investigation, Champaign Police are urging residents or businesses with exterior surveillance cameras in the vicinity to come forward with any relevant information.
