Champaign Equity & Engagement staff attend Disability Resource Expo

On October 18, Janel Gomez, Community Relations Manager and Compliance Officer for the Equity & Engagement Department, along with Community Relations Specialist Julio Velasco, attended the Annual Disability Resource Expo in Champaign County. The event aims to provide access to information, services, and support for people with disabilities in East Central Illinois.

Staff at the event distributed resources and giveaway items while speaking with attendees about accessibility and inclusion. The expo included participation from several organizations and agencies focused on increasing community connection and supporting individuals with disabilities.

According to the department, ongoing participation in events like this demonstrates a commitment to equity and ensuring all individuals feel valued and supported. "Continued involvement in events like the Disability Resource Expo reflects the Department’s commitment to equity, accessibility, and ensuring that all individuals feel valued, supported, and empowered," said a department spokesperson.
