Staff from the City of Champaign's Neighborhood Services Department Code Compliance Division identified a property in the 900 block of W. Beardsley Ave. that required exterior repairs. After issuing an exterior housing violation notice to the owner, the property owner informed the inspector that they were unable to complete the necessary repairs and planned to sell the property.

The inspector allowed an extension of time for the sale process. The property was subsequently purchased by a neighboring property owner, who started making improvements to its exterior. According to city staff, "The exterior of the property is greatly improved and is no longer a blight to the neighborhood."

This case reflects ongoing efforts by city departments to address code compliance issues and improve neighborhood conditions.
