Illinois wide receiver Hank Beatty has been named a Sporting News Midseason All-American and added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, according to an announcement made Wednesday.

Beatty is currently among the top performers in college football. He ranks fourth nationally and second in the Big Ten for receiving yards with 617, and he stands tenth in the nation for all-purpose yards at 812. Over seven games, he has caught 39 passes and contributed to Illinois’ 5-2 record while facing what is ranked as the fourth-toughest schedule in the country.

In addition to his receiving statistics, Beatty has demonstrated versatility on the field. He is the only player in the nation this season with touchdowns by passing, rushing, receiving, and punt return.

Illinois will not play this weekend but is scheduled to travel to Washington on Saturday, October 25.

The Biletnikoff Award is presented each year by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation to recognize the outstanding FBS receiver in college football. Players at any position who catch passes are eligible for this award, which highlights the best receiver rather than just wide receivers. The selection process involves a committee of 600 individuals including journalists, commentators, former award winners, and former receivers who determine semifinalists, finalists, and the recipient of the award.
