Max Herendeen, a junior majoring in advertising, has been recognized as the Scholar Athlete of the Week for his performance with the University of Illinois men's golf team. During the period from September 29 to October 5, 2025, Herendeen contributed to the Illini’s first team victory of the season at the Windon Memorial Classic.

The Illinois men's golf team secured a six-stroke win at this event, finishing with a total score of 828, which is 36 strokes under par. This result marks the fourth-lowest 54-hole score recorded by the program in a fall tournament. All five players on the Illinois lineup finished within the top 15.

Herendeen led his team with a runner-up finish, carding a score of 206 (10-under-par), just two shots behind Mesa Falleur from New Mexico, who won medalist honors. Notably, Herendeen completed Tuesday’s final round without any bogeys and played his last 34 holes at nine-under-par without recording a single bogey.

Herendeen continues to balance his academic pursuits in advertising with his athletic commitments as part of Illinois’ men’s golf program.
