Rep. Mary Miller, U.S. Congresswoman representing Illinois’ 15th district, posted a series of tweets on October 8 and 9, 2025, criticizing Senate Democrats over the ongoing government shutdown and their stance on immigration.

On October 8, Miller wrote, “My people” ? You’ve made it clear your loyalty lies with illegal aliens and criminals. The real people of Illinois are law-abiding Americans, and you’ve abandoned them. Step aside. ICE has work to do. She did not specify who was being addressed in this tweet.

Later that day, she posted another message stating, 70% of Americans disapprove of the Democrat Shutdown. Yet Senate Dems voted SIX TIMES to keep the government closed, demanding: ► $1.5T in additional spending ► $500M for woke media ► $200B for illegal aliens Drop the radical demands. Reopen the government! This tweet included specific allegations regarding Democratic spending priorities during negotiations over reopening the federal government.

On October 9, Miller continued her criticism by asserting that House Republicans had acted to prevent a shutdown while placing blame on Senate Democrats: House Republicans did our job to keep your government open. Senate Democrats are holding America hostage on behalf of illegal aliens.

Mary Miller has represented Illinois’ 15th congressional district since replacing John Shimkus in 2021. In previous elections, she won against Paul Lange in 2022 with over 71% of the vote and Erika Weaver in 2020 with more than 73%, demonstrating strong support within her district.
