On October 2, the Champaign Police Department welcomed students from Parkland College's Criminal Justice class for a tour of its facilities. The visit allowed students to learn about the responsibilities and qualifications required to work as a police officer in Champaign.

The participating students are enrolled in the Early College and Career Academy (ECCA) at Parkland College. ECCA is a dual credit program designed for high school juniors and seniors from 15 area schools, offering nine career pathway options, including law enforcement. The collaboration involves Parkland College, the University of Illinois, Unit 4 Schools, and the Champaign Police Department.

Champaign Police stated: "Champaign Police are proud to collaborate with Parkland, the University of Illinois, and Unit 4 Schools to develop the next generation of leaders in our industry and our community."
