U.S. Representative Mary Miller, who serves Illinois’ 15th district in Congress, has posted a series of statements on her social media account criticizing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democrats regarding the ongoing government funding negotiations.
On September 30, 2025, Miller wrote, "Chuck Schumer is threatening to shut down the government unless $1.5 TRILLION of YOUR hard-earned tax dollars go to the Democrats’ radical wishlist. Ridiculous! If the government shuts down, it’s 100% on the Democrats." Later that same evening, she followed up with a brief post: "Schumer Shutdown."
The following day, October 1, Miller turned her attention to another lawmaker named Delia. She stated: "Delia screams “fascism” at a bill with bipartisan support to keep the government open. She voted to block pay for our troops, seniors, veterans, and working families—just to appease her far-left base. Her extremism hurts the American people."
Mary Miller began serving in Congress in 2021 after replacing John Shimkus as representative for Illinois' 15th district. In previous elections, she defeated Paul Lange in 2022 with over 71% of the vote and Erika Weaver in 2020 with more than 73%, establishing herself as a prominent Republican voice from her district.
