Illinois senior Kenta Miyoshi has qualified for the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship after a strong performance at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Miyoshi, originally from Japan, achieved five wins over ranked opponents during the tournament, finishing with a victory against No. 28 Jack Loutit on Sunday.

This marks the second time Miyoshi will compete in the NCAA Singles Championship, having previously advanced to the national tournament last year.

Miyoshi began his campaign with a three-set win over Princeton's No. 35 Top Nidunjianzan on Wednesday. He secured the first set 7-5 but dropped the second before recovering to win the final set 6-3.

On Thursday, he faced Ohio State’s No. 26 Loren Byers and earned another three-set victory, taking control early and ultimately winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 to reach the third round of the singles main draw.

In Friday’s third round match against Michigan State's No. 66 Matthew Forbes, Miyoshi lost in three sets after forcing a tiebreaker in the second frame and holding off match points before being broken late in the deciding set.

Transitioning into consolation play on Saturday, Miyoshi defeated his highest-ranked opponent of the week—No. 18 Paul Inchauspe from Princeton—in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 6-1). Later that day he beat Yale’s No. 33 Vignesh Gogineni by rallying from one set down to win six of the last seven games for a final score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.

In his final match of the event on Sunday against Kentucky’s No. 28 Jack Loutit—his fifth top-40 opponent—Miyoshi broke serve several times en route to winning the first set and was leading in the second when Loutit retired due to injury. This result secured Miyoshi’s spot in this season’s NCAA Individual Championships.

Adam Jilly also represented Illinois at this tournament but fell in his opening singles prequalifying match on September 20 against Arizona's Pepijn Bastiaansen despite winning the first set.
