Several neighborhood groups in Champaign recently organized community engagement events with the help of small grants. The Copper Ridge Homeowners Association (HOA) held a block party on Saturday, September 20, featuring food, a bounce house, and yard games provided by the Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) engagement trailer.

The following day, the South Willis Neighborhood Group hosted its 41st annual block party. The event included a potluck meal, games, and opportunities for neighbors to socialize.

On Monday, September 22, the Park Place Condominium Association conducted a clean-up event. Residents rented a roll-off dumpster to dispose of bulk items. This was the association’s first engagement event and organizers reported that it proceeded smoothly.

All three groups applied for and received small grants to cover event costs.
