The City of Champaign will host a volunteer cleanup event for America Recycles Day at Boneyard Creek on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The event is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to noon and aims to remove trash and litter from city rights-of-way and creeks.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the north end of the North First Street Parking Lot next to Prosperity Gardens at 302 N. First St., Champaign. There will be no rain make-up date for this event.

According to the City of Champaign, "We are once again looking for volunteers to help pick up litter along the Boneyard Creek! You will need to sign a waiver upon your arrival. We provide the gloves, buckets, pick-up sticks, trash and recycling bags, safety vests, etc. We will also provide FREE reusable canvas bags and t-shirts, if you’d like one. A FREE pizza lunch will once again be provided immediately following the clean-up!"

This initiative continues efforts by local departments such as Neighborhood Services and Public Works to maintain clean public spaces and encourage community involvement in environmental stewardship.

Those interested in participating can find more information or sign up through the city's website.
