Kirby Avenue westbound lane closed for stadium deliveries from Sept. 23-27

One westbound lane of Kirby Avenue between First Street and Fourth Street will be closed to traffic starting Tuesday, September 23, 2025. The closure is being implemented by the University of Illinois to allow for deliveries at Gies Memorial Stadium. During this period, westbound traffic in the area will be limited to a single lane. The affected section of Kirby Avenue is expected to reopen on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

According to the University of Illinois, "In order to facilitate deliveries at Gies Memorial Stadium, the University of Illinois will close one westbound lane of Kirby Avenue between First Street and Fourth Street. The closure will begin on Tuesday, September 23, and will reopen on Saturday, September 27, 2025. During the closure, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in the area."

Drivers are advised to plan for possible delays during this time.
