Illinois soccer achieved a significant milestone by matching its best season start, winning its first seven matches. The team secured a 6-0 victory over Valparaiso at Demirjian Park on Sunday, September 7, bringing their record to 7-0-0. This achievement ties the program's previous record for consecutive wins at the start of a season, last set in 2004.

Senior Sarah Foley played a central role in the win, scoring her first career hat trick during senior day. Foley is the first Illinois player to score three goals in a game since Hope Breslin did so against Illinois State on August 22, 2021. Foley opened the scoring in the game's first minute with an assist from Cayla Jackson and added two more goals in the second half, finding the net in both the 48th and 56th minutes.

Foley now leads both her team and the Big Ten Conference with five goals this season. She is a senior from Belleville, Illinois, majoring in advertising.
