Congresswoman Mary Miller of Illinois’s 15th district, along with Representatives Mike Bost (IL-12) and Darin LaHood (IL-16), has introduced a Congressional Resolution to honor Charlie Kirk, an Illinois native who was recently assassinated. The resolution condemns the killing and seeks to recognize Kirk’s life and legacy.
Miller stated, “Charlie Kirk was more than a Conservative trailblazer, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a Martyr for Conservatism and Christianity. As a proud Illinois native, his courage inspired millions to stand boldly for their faith, to love America, and defend freedom. As we honor his legacy with this Congressional Resolution, we lift Erika and their children in prayer and recommit ourselves to advancing the values he boldly championed.”
Congressman Mike Bost added, “The murder of Charlie Kirk is a tragic reminder of just how far our nation has spiraled from the days of political discourse to the depths of political violence. Charlie was a native son of Illinois whose faith, love of family, and commitment to thoughtfully engaging young people in the political process will leave a lasting mark. I am humbled to join my Illinois Republican colleagues in introducing a House resolution honoring Charlie’s life and legacy. My prayers go out to his wife, Erika, their two young children, and all who were impacted by this horrific attack.”
Mary Miller is currently serving as U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 15th district after succeeding John Shimkus in 2021. In recent elections, she defeated Paul Lange in 2022 with over 71% of the vote and Erika Weaver in 2020 with more than 73%.
