Cross Construction is set to begin work on the 2025 Annual Paving Project in Champaign starting Monday, September 15, 2025. The project will include milling and paving at several locations: Fifth Street from Bradley Avenue to Washington Street, Wright Street from Columbia Avenue to Church Street, Holts Drive from Phillips Drive to Fourth Street, Columbia Avenue from Fourth Street to Wright Street, and Vine Street from Fourth Street to Wright Street.
The construction will start with milling operations on September 15. According to the City of Champaign, "One lane in each direction will be open to through traffic; however, motorists are urged to take alternate routes to avoid delays. Work at these locations is scheduled to be complete by Friday, October 3, 2025."
The city advises drivers that while some lanes will remain accessible during construction, choosing different routes may help reduce travel time.
