The University of Illinois men's golf team has received recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for its academic performance. The GCAA announced the 2024-25 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Awards, which honor collegiate golf programs that achieve a team grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

This year, a record 292 programs across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA and NJCAA Divisions I and II, were recognized with the award. The Fighting Illini men's golf team was among these honorees.

In addition to the main award, Illinois earned the Presidents Special Recognition distinction for having a team GPA of 3.5 or better. Only 75 NCAA Division I programs received this added honor. Furthermore, Illinois was one of just seven teams nationwide to maintain a GPA above 3.5 while also competing in the 30-team field at the 2025 NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

According to the university, "This marks the ninth consecutive year that the Illini have been recognized with the GCAA's Team Academic Award, and the fourth time in the last six seasons that the team earned the Presidents Special Recognition."
