Fighting Illini men's golf players Jackson Buchanan and Max Herendeen have been named honorable mentions on the 2025 Golfweek All-America team. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
Buchanan, a senior, has received this recognition for the third consecutive year. Herendeen, a sophomore, is honored for the second time after being named to the second team as a freshman last season.
Buchanan's accolades include winning the 2025 Byron Nelson Award, receiving Illinois' Big Ten Medal of Honor, and being a unanimous All-Big Ten selection. He was also named a GCAA PING All-Midwest Region honoree. Buchanan concluded his senior year ranking first on his team and third in the Big Ten at No. 37 in NCAA Division I men's golf player rankings. During the season, he achieved a career-best stroke average of 70.93 and won his fourth collegiate title at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational. He will make his professional debut next week at the U.S. Open.
Herendeen has become the first Fighting Illini since Michael Feagles to earn first-team All-B1G honors during both his freshman and sophomore years. He ended the season ranked No. 38 in NCAA player rankings and achieved as high as No. 24 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). Herendeen recorded an average score of 70.85 and had a head-to-head record of 1023-179-28 (.843). His notable performances included tying for fifth place at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate with a score of 63 (-7) and matching that score to set an opening-round record at the B1G Championship.
Additionally, Dane Huddleston, who will join Illinois as a junior transfer from Utah Valley this fall, was named Third Team All-American following his impressive performance last season.
