Illinois head coach Renee Slone has announced the addition of Tavia Burgess, a transfer from Morehead State, to the 2025-26 women's golf roster.
"We are excited Tavia has decided to take the next step in her collegiate journey with us here at Illinois," Slone stated. "After a stellar freshman campaign at Morehead State, which culminated in a 13th place finish at the NCAA Lexington Regional, we are looking forward to much success during the next three years. Her energy, competitiveness and work ethic will add to our team dynamic."
Burgess was named the 2025 Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year after achieving a scoring average of 73.16 for the season. Her performance included an individual second-place finish at the 2025 OVC Women's Golf Championship, contributing to Morehead State's third OVC title.
During the NCAA Lexington Regional held from May 5-7, Burgess tied for 13th place and helped Morehead State achieve their best-ever 54-hole score for an Ohio Valley Conference team at a regional (+24, 888). The Mather, California native also recorded the second-best individual 54-hole score for an OVC player (-1, 215) at an NCAA Regional.
