Three Fighting Illini men's golfers have been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as members of the 2025 Division I PING All-Midwest Region team. The announcement was made on Saturday, May 24, coinciding with the team's participation in Round 2 of the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Jackson Buchanan received his third all-region selection, while Max Herendeen and Ryan Voois each earned their second honors. This marks the 17th consecutive season that multiple Illinois players have been named to the all-region list.
Buchanan, a senior from Dacula, Georgia, has had an impressive season. He is the recipient of the 2025 Byron Nelson Award and Illinois' Big Ten Medal of Honor. He ranks first on his team and third in the Big Ten at No. 33 in NCAA Division I men's golf player rankings. Buchanan has achieved a career-best stroke average of 70.72 and secured his fourth collegiate victory at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.
Herendeen, hailing from Bellevue, Washington, ranks No. 43 in NCAA player rankings and leads his team with a season stroke average of 70.67. He recorded two rounds of 63 (-7), tying for fifth at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate and matching an opening-round record at the B1G Championship.
Voois, from Ladera Ranch, California, maintained consistency throughout his junior year with a career-best stroke average of 71.44. He closed four tournaments as Illinois' top finisher and achieved top-25 finishes in eleven tournaments this year.
The three golfers have played crucial roles for Illinois this season as they compete in high-level collegiate golf tournaments.
