Four student-athletes from the Illinois women's tennis team have been named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees. The announcement was made on Tuesday.
Senior Kida Ferrari received the honor for the third consecutive year. Her teammates, Megan Heuser and McKenna Schaefbauer, were recognized for the second time, while senior Kasia Treiber earned her first accolade.
In their final academic year at Illinois, Ferrari is pursuing a bachelor's degree in strategic business development & entrepreneurship. Heuser is studying interdisciplinary health sciences, Treiber is working towards an accountancy degree, and Schaefbauer is majoring in political science.
Eligibility for this award requires a minimum GPA of 3.50. Nominees must be at least sophomores both academically and athletically and should have participated in at least 70 percent of the team's matches as either starters or key reserves.
All four athletes played significant roles in this season's lineup. Schaefbauer and Heuser each achieved 16 victories, Treiber secured 13 wins, and Ferrari recorded eight victories. In doubles play, Schaefbauer and Treiber amassed 18 victories together; Heuser had 15 wins, while Ferrari tallied 14.
Their efforts contributed to Illinois achieving a 15-13 team record during the 2025 season. This performance marked the team's third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, where they advanced to the Round of 32 after defeating No. 30 Arizona in the First Round.
