The sixth signature event of the season presents a platform for four former Illini golfers to participate in PGA TOUR events, while Illinois alumni will also feature in DP World Tour and PGA Tour Americas events this week.
The PGA TOUR is gearing up for its next significant event, the Truist Championship, alongside the ONEFlight Myrtle Beach Classic. Brian Campbell and Thomas Detry are set to compete at the Truist Championship held at Philadelphia Cricket Club, a venue that hosted Illinois' 2019 Big Ten Championship.
Thomas Detry returns to action after tying for 32nd place two weeks ago at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He currently holds the 19th spot in the FedEx Cup standings and is ranked No. 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). Brian Campbell will play for the first time since achieving consecutive T32 finishes at both the Masters on April 13 and RBC Heritage on April 20. He ranks 38th in FedEx Cup points and stands just outside the top 100 in OWGR at position 102.
In South Carolina, Nick Hardy and Adrien Dumont de Chassart will compete at Dunes Golf and Beach Club. Hardy has recently made back-to-back cuts with finishes of T41 and T32 at Corales Puntacana Championship and Zurich Classic of New Orleans but missed weekend play at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Dumont de Chassart enters his third PGA TOUR event this season after securing a T26 finish earlier this year at Puerto Rico Open but failing to make it past Valspar Championship's cut later that month. Last week he achieved a T18 finish – marking his fourth successful cut out of five Korn Ferry Tour events – during Tulum Championship held at PGA Riviera Maya.
Matthis Besard makes his return on DP World Tour participating in Turkish Airlines Open as his first appearance this year following last year's involvement across twenty-six tour events where he secured ten cuts including best season result as sixth-place tie during BMW International Open.
On PGA Tour Americas Piercen Hunt prepares himself for Bupa Championship occurring within Mexico City’s Club de Golf Mexico after qualifying through open entry process; being third competition throughout current term seeking another cut completion subsequent initial success registered by attaining fifty-third rank early partway through ECP Brazil Open.
