Big Ten Tournament set for Illinois women's tennis team in Ojai

Illinois will begin its quest in the 2025 Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament this Thursday in Ojai, California. Ranked 42nd in the nation, the team enters the event with a season record of 13-11, including eight wins and five losses in Big Ten matches. The Fighting Illini have shown strong performance against their upcoming opponent, Northwestern, winning the last six encounters.

The initial match against Northwestern is scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m. Central Time. The winner will progress to face the second-seeded Ohio State in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Northwestern approaches the tournament with a 13-12 season record and was seeded tenth after a 6-7 performance in Big Ten play.

Illinois seeks to maintain its recent momentum, having won their final regular-season matches on the road. Head coach Evan Clark has led the team to eight or more Big Ten victories each season since 2020. Clark's tenure has seen the Illini achieve seven or more league wins in all nine completed seasons.

Head Coach Evan Clark holds an overall record of 145-98 and a Big Ten record of 74-36. Under his leadership since 2016, Illinois boasts a home record of 80-32.
