Illinois Athletics has announced that it will not renew the contract of women's gymnastics head coach Nadalie Walsh. Walsh, who has led the Illini team for the past eight years, will see her tenure conclude when her contract expires in August 2025.
During Walsh's time with Illinois, the team achieved several milestones including finishing sixth at the Big Ten Championships and third in round two at the NCAA Regionals this past season. The team's best conference finish under her guidance was second place in 2019. Additionally, her leadership resulted in three All-Americans, four Big Ten individual event champions, and 23 All-Big Ten selections. Walsh was recognized in 2022 as the WCGA Region 3 Co-Head Coach of the Year, a year in which Illinois attained a final national ranking of 19th.
"We appreciate Coach Walsh's contributions to our program and wish Nadalie and her family all the best," stated Josh Whitman, Director of Athletics.
The search for a new head coach will commence immediately in hopes of finding the next leader for the Fighting Illini Women's Gymnastics.
