The Fighting Illini women's tennis team faced a challenging match against No. 11 Ohio State at the Atkins Tennis Center on Sunday, ultimately falling 4-1. Despite the loss, the Illini began strongly, claiming the doubles point against the Buckeyes, marking their 13th doubles point of the season.
"No. 51 Illinois moved to 10-11 on the season and 5-5 in Big Ten action. The Buckeyes are now 15-2 overall and 9-1 in Big Ten play. Illinois has faced eight top-25 ranked teams this season."
The Illini demonstrated resilience in doubles play. Violeta Martinez and Alice Xu clinched a 6-3 victory in No. 2 doubles, while Megan Heuser and Kida Ferrari secured a 6-4 win over their No. 10-ranked opponents in No. 1 doubles. However, Ohio State responded with a win at No. 3 doubles.
The Buckeyes regained ground in singles competitions, securing victories to conclude the match with wins at No. 6, No. 1, No. 4, and No. 2 singles.

Illinois' seniors Kida Ferrari, Megan Heuser, and Kasia Treiber were honored before the match in a prematch ceremony, bringing recognition to their contributions and performances throughout the season.
"Next weekend, the Fighting Illini head to Evanston to face Northwestern. Action is set for Saturday, April 12, at 12 p.m. CT."
The match drew an indoor audience of 169 spectators and lasted just over three hours.
