Illinois gymnastics finishes third in NCAA regionals in Seattle

Illinois concluded its 2025 gymnastics season by placing third out of four in the second round of the NCAA Regionals, held in Seattle. The team scored 195.725 points. Head coach Nadalie Walsh expressed pride in her athletes' performances, stating, "They put everything out there, stayed unified, and represented Illinois so well."

During the competition, the Illini began on the beam, with notable performances by Lyden Saltness and Chloe Cho, and highlighted by Amelia Knight's season-high 9.900 score, tying her for sixth in the session. On the floor, Eden King achieved the team's highest score of 9.850.

The third rotation on vault saw contributions from Olivia Coppola and Chloe Cho, with Arielle Ward tying for second place on the apparatus with her 9.850 score. The final event, bars, was led by Makayla Green and Cho, both scoring 9.825.

In the all-around competition, Chloe Cho secured a seventh-place finish. Reflecting on the team's post-season performance, Coach Walsh noted, "The valuable experience they have gained this week will mark them and motivate them toward even more greatness next year."

The event concluded with Oklahoma leading the team scores at 198.025, followed by Auburn at 196.950, Illinois at 195.725, and Nebraska at 195.675. Illinois now awaits the results of the Regional Finals to determine any potential individual qualifiers.
