City staff members Janel Gomez and Terra Salgado made a presentation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on March 28, 2025. Gomez, the Community Relations Manager, and Salgado, an intern in the Equity and Engagement Department, were invited by the Department of Animal Sciences. The aim was to showcase the efforts within the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Their presentation primarily focused on the City's Human Rights Ordinance. They provided examples of cases related to this ordinance, emphasizing support provided to students at the university who had experienced rights violations.
The initiative was a part of the outreach efforts by the Equity and Engagement Department, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion.
