Champaign Police responded to a shooting incident at the intersection of Neil Street and JT Coffman Drive on March 25, 2025. Officers arrived at the scene at 3:23 p.m. and found a 24-year-old man from Champaign with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. The officers provided emergency medical aid before the man was taken to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

According to the initial investigation, the victim was inside an acquaintance's apartment when he got into a confrontation with two unidentified men.
