The Illinois softball team faced a narrow defeat against Oregon, with a final score of 4-3 in the last game of their three-game series. The match took place at Jane Sanders Stadium on Sunday. Despite efforts to level the score at 3-3 during the sixth inning, Oregon secured victory in the seventh.

Following this game, Illinois' overall record fell to 13-15, while Oregon improved its record to 29-3. This game did not impact the Big Ten standings.

The Illini offense was driven by freshmen Ella Cushing and Ellie Haggard along with sophomore Adisyn Caryl, each contributing three hits. Haggard initiated scoring with a double in the second inning and later tied the game with her second home run of the weekend in the sixth inning.

In an attempt to rally for a lead in the seventh inning, Caryl singled, allowing pinch runner Zoie Howard to advance but remain stranded as the score stayed tied at 3-3.

Junior pitcher Karley Yergler delivered six innings for Illinois, conceding four runs on eight hits. Despite her efforts, her season record shifted to 4-3 after Oregon's Braiesey Rosa hit a walk-off home run at the start of the seventh inning.

Illinois will return to action on Tuesday at Eichelberger Field against Northern Iowa at 5 p.m. CT. This game marks the beginning of a four-game homestand for Illinois.
