The Illinois women's gymnastics team is preparing for the Big Ten Championships, which will take place at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Fighting Illini will compete in Session II on March 22, 2025, at 11 a.m. CT against Iowa, Maryland, and Penn State.
Illinois concluded its regular season with a win over Northern Illinois by a margin of 1.400 points. Key performances included Mareli Muller and Chloe Cho's scores of 9.825 on vault, and Destiny Denning, Makayla Green, and Cho tying for first on uneven bars with scores of 9.800.
Chloe Cho has been recognized as a standout performer this season. She was named to the All-Big Ten first team and the Big Ten All-Freshman Team based on her National Qualifying Score standings. "Cho currently ranks in the top 100 on every apparatus and is in the top 40 nationally in the all-around," highlighting her significant achievements this year.
Head coach Nadalie Walsh received recognition as the inaugural Game Changer for Women in Sports Leadership Award by Gameday Spirit. The award honors women leaders who impact women's sports through mentorship and advocacy.
Looking forward to the championships, both Chloe Cho and junior Arielle Ward have been identified as gymnasts to watch during preseason predictions. Their performances throughout the season have positioned them as key competitors heading into this weekend's event.
