Illinois softball is set to face a challenging Big Ten series as they travel to Oregon to play against the Ducks, who are ranked #8/8. The games will take place at Jane Sanders Stadium in Eugene from March 20-22. Illinois has yet to secure a victory against Oregon, with their previous two encounters resulting in losses.

The Fighting Illini have shown strong performances this season, particularly in hitting triples. "The Illini enter the week second in the conference with eight triples this season and 0.32 triples per game," highlighting their offensive capabilities.

Senior Stevie Meade is on the verge of setting a new program record for sacrifice hits. "Meade owns the single-season record for most sacrifice hits with 13 in 2022." She needs just one more sac bunt to become Illinois' all-time leader.

Oregon presents a formidable challenge, entering the weekend with a 26-3 record under head coach Melyssa Lombardi. "Rylee McCoy leads the way at the plate, batting .453 this season with 10 home runs."

Illinois head coach Tyra Perry is among only three Black female head coaches leading a program in a power conference. The team also features several newcomers, including Lizzie Stiverson and Karley Yergler from Parkland College.

The Fighting Illini's recent performance saw them drop their series finale against Wisconsin, despite efforts from players like Megan Nuechterlein and Stevie Meade.
