Illinois student-athletes earn Academic All-Big Ten honors

The Big Ten Conference has announced the winter sport student-athletes who have been named to the Academic All-Big Ten team. This recognition requires students to be on a varsity team, enrolled full-time at their institution for at least 12 months, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

A total of seventy-six student-athletes from Illinois were honored across six sports programs. Those achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA are highlighted in bold.

In men's basketball, AJ Redd, a junior majoring in finance, was recognized. For women's basketball, several athletes were acknowledged including Cori Allen (sophomore, Recreation, Sport & Tourism), Shay Bollin (senior, Communication), Kendall Bostic (graduate, Master of Education in Special Education), Genesis Bryant and Makira Cook (both graduates in Master of Science in Management), Gretchen Dolan (sophomore, undeclared), Adalia McKenzie (senior, Recreation, Sport & Tourism), and Brynn Shoup-Hill (senior, History of Art).

Men's gymnastics honorees include Tate Costa (junior, Statistics), Brandon Dang (sophomore, Electrical Engineering), Max Farkhadau (senior, Chemistry), Will Hauke (graduate, Human Resources & Industrial Relations), Kyle Mayotte (junior, Consumer Economics & Finance), Connor Micklos (junior, Advertising), Logan Myers (senior, Financial Planning), Preston Ngai (sophomore, Computer Science), Vahe Petrosyan and Garrett Schooley (both sophomores in Kinesiology and Recreation respectively), Amari Sewell (graduate in Community Health), Dylan Shepard and Alex Tapanes (both sophomores in Business and Biology respectively) as well as Ryan Vanichtheeranont (junior in Biochemistry).

For women's gymnastics: Alea Byrne (junior in Kinesiology); Olivia Coppola and Destiny Denning both sophomores with majors in Human Development & Family Studies and Business respectively; Micheala Gentry and Makayla Green seniors majoring in Communication and Interdisciplinary Health Sciences; Tali Joelson junior majoring Dietetics & Nutrition; Amelia Knight graduate pursuing Master of Science Management; Mareli Muller sophomore studying Political Science; Lyden Saltness sophomore undeclared; Maddie Vitolo sophomore Accountancy major; Arielle Ward junior Economics major along with Emma White also junior specializing Strategy Innovation Entrepreneurship.
