Fighting Illini women's golf team secured second place at the Spring Break Shootout, finishing with a total score of 21-over (873) after the final round at Lake Jovita Golf Club in Dade City, Florida. The team posted a third-round score of 295 (+11). Three Illinois golfers ranked in the top 15, with two achieving top 10 finishes.
Victoria Zheng achieved her second top 10 finish of the season, tying for sixth place at 3-over following a final round score of 72 (+1). Her par-4 scoring average was tied for fourth-lowest among competitors, and she ranked sixth in total birdies with nine.
Anna Ritter also marked her second top 10 finish in three events and third overall this season, tying for tenth after a third-round score of 76 (+5). She recorded the second-highest number of birdies at the event with thirteen and led Illinois on par-3s with a scoring average tied for fourth-best among participants.
Brielle Mapanao delivered her best performance this season by tying for twelfth place after carding a final round of 74 (+3). Her scoring average on par-5s was the best within her team and tied for fourth-best overall.
Other notable performances included Lexanne Halama tying for fifteenth place, Yurang Li tying for fourteenth, and Erica Lee finishing twentieth as an individual competitor. Their respective scores were rounds of 75 (+4), 74 (+3), and 75 (+4).
Florida Gulf Coast claimed the team title at 14-over (866), while New Mexico State's Emma Bunch earned individual honors with a score of 4-under (209).
The Fighting Illini will next compete in the Florida State Match Up at Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Florida starting Friday.
