Former University of Illinois golfers are making their mark on the professional golf scene this week. Thomas Detry and Brian Campbell are competing in THE PLAYERS Championship, one of the PGA Tour's most prestigious events, held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Both players are ranked within the top 20 of the FedEx Cup standings, with Detry at No. 6 and Campbell at No. 20.

Detry is participating in THE PLAYERS for the third time. He missed the cut in his first appearance in 2023 but improved to finish tied for 62nd last year. This event marks Campbell's debut at THE PLAYERS Championship.

In recent performances, Adrien Dumont de Chassart and Nick Hardy had notable outings at the Puerto Rico Open. Hardy shot an opening round of 66 and concluded with a total score of eight-under-par to finish tied for 64th place. Dumont de Chassart recorded rounds of 67 on both opening and closing days, ending tied for 21st with a score of fourteen-under-par.

Meanwhile, Thomas Pieters is competing with his team, the 4Aces, at the LIV Golf event in Singapore's Sentosa Golf Club. Last week, Pieters finished tied for 30th in Hong Kong, contributing to his team's eighth-place finish overall. He currently ranks 28th individually while his team stands ninth out of thirteen teams after three events.
