Fighting Illini women's golf team concluded the Spartan Suncoast Invitational in eighth place with a 54-hole team total of 874 (+10). The event took place at Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota, Florida.
Anna Ritter achieved her second top 10 finish this season by scoring a third round of 73 (-1), tying for ninth place at 1-under overall. Ritter recorded two birdies, bringing her tournament total to ten. She led Illinois in par 3 (2.92, -1) and par 5 (4.67, -4) scoring averages.
Yurang Li posted the lowest score for an Illini in the final round with a 3-under 69, marking her second round under 70 this season and finishing tied for 30th. Li accumulated five birdies during the round, including two on her bogey-free back nine.
Victoria Zheng, Brielle Mapanao, and Lexanne Halama all finished tied for 42nd with rounds of 74 (+2), 75 (+3), and 78 (+6), respectively. Zheng led the field with a total of 44 pars during the tournament.
Michigan State hosted the event and claimed team honors at 4-under (860) overall while Ohio State's Kary Hollenbaugh won the individual title at 9-under (207).
The Fighting Illini are set to compete again on February 24 at The Chevron Collegiate hosted by Houston at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
