Hill sets new school record at Valentine Invitational

The University of Illinois track and field teams recently competed in the Tyson Invitational held at the Randal Tyson Track Center, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Halle Hill participated in a separate event, the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, where she set a new school record for the mile with a time of 4:32.86, surpassing Olivia Howell's previous record of 4:33.75 from 2022.

In other notable performances, Morgan Smalls achieved a high jump mark that placed her on the program's top-10 list with a leap of 1.80m (5-10 3/4). Tadeas Placek also returned to the top-10 list for the program's fastest times in the 800m with his time of 1:48.92.

Tori Thomas secured second place in the pole vault invitational section with a height of 4.44m (14-6 3/4), making her one of the highest finishers for Illinois during this competition. Asia Thomas finished fifth in the women's 200m invitational with a time of 23.33 seconds.

Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to compete next at the Alex Wilson Invitational on February 22nd in South Bend, Indiana.
