Fighting Illini women's tennis faced a setback with a 4-1 defeat against the No. 22-ranked Baylor at the Atkins Tennis Center. Despite the loss, Megan Heuser secured a victory in singles to put Illinois on the scoreboard.

Illinois now holds a record of 3-6 for the season and 3-5 at home. The team's schedule has been challenging, with all nine matches against Power 4 opponents, including four top 25 ranked teams.

Baylor improved its record to 7-1 following this win.

In doubles, Illinois' McKenna Schaefbauer and Kasia Treiber won their match with a score of 6-1 at No. 3 doubles, marking their second consecutive victory together and bringing their dual season record to 5-4. However, Baylor claimed the remaining two doubles matches to secure the opening point of the day.

Baylor extended its lead to 3-0 with straight-set victories in No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches. Megan Heuser managed a comeback in her match at No. 2 singles, overcoming an early deficit to win with scores of 7-5, 6-1, thereby scoring Illinois' only point in the contest.

The competition concluded with Baylor winning at No. 4 singles.

Illinois is scheduled for a break until March 1 when they will host Western Michigan and Chicago State in a doubleheader at the Atkins Tennis Center.
