Chloe Cho has been named the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week for the third time, as announced by the conference on February 11. This recognition follows her previous awards on January 21 and February 4.
Cho demonstrated strong performances against two top-25 teams over the past weekend, competing against then-No. 18 Ohio State and then-No. 9 Missouri. She achieved an event title and set two career-high scores during these competitions.
On February 7, Cho, who hails from Simi Valley, California, secured second place on bars with a career-high score of 9.875. She also came close to her personal best on floor with a score of 9.900 and was just shy of her all-around career high with a total of 39.350.
Continuing her performance on February 9, Cho achieved a new career high on floor with a score of 9.950, earning her the floor title. Her consistent performance placed her second in the all-around competition with another score of 39.350 and contributed to Illinois achieving their highest team total of the season at 196.675.
Looking ahead, Cho and her team are preparing for another double-meet weekend as they travel to compete at the Zou to Lou Quad on February 14 and Iowa on February 16.
The Big Ten Weekly Awards for February 11 included Nikki Smith from Michigan State and Chae Campbell from UCLA as Co-Gymnasts of the Week, Carly Bauman from Michigan as Specialist of the Week, and Chloe Cho from Illinois as Freshman of the Week.
