Illinois secured its fifth consecutive road victory with a decisive 74-51 win over Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon. The Fighting Illini led by as many as 26 points, finishing the game with a 23-point margin to improve their record to 19-5 overall and 9-4 in Big Ten play.
Adalia McKenzie was a standout performer, scoring a team-high 18 points and making two three-pointers, her first multi-three-pointer game of the season. McKenzie also contributed eight rebounds, six assists, and one steal. Genesis Bryant added 11 points while shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line and dishing out seven assists.
Kendall Bostic achieved her 50th career double-double with 15 points and a team-best 11 rebounds. Bostic also had three steals and two blocks. Brynn Shoup-Hill scored 11 points, including two three-pointers in the second half, while securing six rebounds.
Jasmine Brown-Hagger contributed nine points, four rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Berry Wallace scored ten points off the bench for her third straight game in double figures.
The Illini started strong with a 10-2 lead within the first four minutes of play. Early three-pointers from McKenzie and Bryant forced Wisconsin to call an early timeout. Illinois maintained control throughout the game, holding a significant advantage going into halftime at 42-25.
In the third quarter, despite Wisconsin's efforts to cut into their deficit with a brief run, Illinois managed to extend their lead once again by using strategic plays late in the frame. The final quarter saw Illinois limiting Wisconsin to just one field goal in over four minutes while increasing their lead further before closing out the match comfortably ahead.
Illinois will return home for a two-game homestand starting Thursday night against Penn State at State Farm Center.
