Fighting Illini golfers Jackson Buchanan and Max Herendeen have been named to the 2025 Ben Hogan Award Watch List. The announcement was made by the Hogan Trophy Award Foundation, Friends of Golf (FOG), and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The two players from Illinois are among 35 collegiate golfers on this prestigious list. Illinois is one of nine programs with multiple honorees and one of three Big Ten programs represented.

Buchanan, a senior from Dacula, Georgia, finished the fall season ranked No. 13 in NCAA Division I individual rankings. He was named Big Ten Player of the Year last season and achieved a career-low stroke average of 70.50 during the fall schedule. Buchanan's achievements include four top-10 finishes in five tournaments this year.

Herendeen, a sophomore from Bellevue, Washington, earned second team PING All-America honors last season and was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year. This season he has consistently placed in the top-20 at all five fall events.

The Ben Hogan Award is given annually to the top men's college golfer across various divisions based on performances over 12 months. The selection committee consists of 30 leaders in golf who vote during each stage of the process.

Semifinalists will be announced on April 17, followed by finalists on May 6. The winner will be crowned at a dinner event on May 19 at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
