Illini alumni play key roles in NFL Conference Championships

Stats and notes from former University of Illinois players featured prominently in the NFL Conference Championships over the weekend.

Nick Allegretti, offensive lineman for the Washington Commanders, started at left guard. He played every offensive snap, totaling 79, as well as three special teams snaps during the Commanders' game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team was defeated with a score of 55-23.

Sydney Brown, defensive back for the Philadelphia Eagles, took part in four defensive and 22 special teams snaps. He recorded one tackle during his team's victory over the Commanders. Following this win, Brown is set to make his first Super Bowl appearance.

Quan Martin, another defensive back from the Washington Commanders, started at safety. He participated in 60 defensive snaps and 12 special teams snaps while making five tackles in their loss to the Eagles.

Jer'Zhan Newton, a defensive lineman for Washington, contributed with 28 defensive and eight special teams snaps. He made two tackles during their game against Philadelphia.

Dawuane Smoot of the Buffalo Bills played in their match against the Kansas City Chiefs. As a defensive lineman, he saw action in 20 defensive and three special teams snaps during Buffalo's narrow 32-29 defeat.
