Kendall Bostic has set a new career rebounding record for the Illinois women's basketball program as the team defeated Purdue 74-38 at State Farm Center. The victory marks Illinois' first win against Purdue since 2021.
Bostic surpassed Jenna Smith's long-standing rebounding record, grabbing her 11th rebound in the third quarter. She completed her 13th double-double of the season with 17 points and two steals.
Genesis Bryant contributed significantly, scoring 13 points, with ten of those in the second quarter. Jasmine Brown-Hagger added 11 points and three assists, while Berry Wallace scored 16 points off the bench. Adalia McKenzie also played a key role with seven points and four assists.
The game saw Illinois taking an early lead, which they maintained throughout. They ended the first half with a strong performance leading by 21 points. The Illini extended their lead further in the third quarter, holding Purdue scoreless for over six minutes.
Illinois is now preparing for an upcoming two-game road trip on the East Coast, starting with Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Thursday.
