Illinois junior Kenta Miyoshi has been named to the Big Ten Men's Tennis Players to Watch list, as announced by the conference office. Miyoshi's recognition follows a successful sophomore season where he achieved a 27-9 record in singles play and earned ITA Singles All-American honors. He was among the final 16 players in the NCAA Singles Championship.
Miyoshi, from Kawasaki, Japan, currently holds a career-high No. 14 position in the ITA singles rankings with a 12-5 record leading into the spring season of 2025. His achievements this season include nine wins against ranked opponents, highlighted by four consecutive victories at Battle in the Bay, which led him to win the singles consolation title.
During his journey to the NCAA Singles Championship through five consecutive wins at the ITA Midwest Regional, Miyoshi defeated Kentucky's Jack Loutit and Cornell's Radu Papoe. The victory over Papoe secured him All-American status for the first time.
Miyoshi is one of 14 athletes recognized on this year's Big Ten Men's Tennis Players to Watch list as he enters his third dual season with Illinois' Orange and Blue team.
