Fighting Illini women's basketball team has reached a new milestone under Coach Green, securing the No. 19 spot in the Associated Press Top-25 Poll for Week 4. This marks their highest ranking during Green's tenure and reflects a strong start to the season with a 5-0 record and an NCAA-best 10-game winning streak.

Under Green's leadership, Illinois has appeared in eight AP polls. The team's presence in the rankings began with four appearances in the 2022-23 season, followed by preseason recognition in 2023-24, and continued through Weeks 2 to 4 of the current season.

Historically, Illinois has been featured in 71 AP polls over eleven seasons. Coach Green joins Naismith Hall of Famer Theresa Grentz as one of only two coaches to guide Illinois to three consecutive seasons of AP Top-25 rankings. The last similar achievement spanned five seasons from 1996-97 to 2000-01.

The Illini's previous highest ranking under Green was No. 21 during the 2022-23 campaign. The program's all-time high was No. 5 on December 8, 1997.

This season, Illinois has demonstrated dominance by leading for nearly all game time across five matches and maintaining a winning streak against ranked opponents for three consecutive years—a feat not seen since between the years of 2005 and 2008. Recent victories include triumphs over No.19 Florida State on November 7, No.16 Indiana on February 19, and No.12 Iowa on January1.

Initially receiving votes in both AP and WBCA preseason polls, Illinois climbed from last week's position at No.22 to their current standing at No.19.
