Illinois loses to Alabama despite strong second-half effort

The Illinois Fighting Illini faced a challenging game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, ultimately falling 100-87 in the C.M. Newton Classic at Legacy Arena. Despite trailing by as much as 18 points, Illinois managed to narrow the gap to eight with just over three minutes left but could not complete the comeback.

Five players from Illinois scored in double figures. Will Riley led with 18 points, including 15 in the second half, and contributed nine rebounds and four assists. Kylan Boswell added a season-high 17 points along with seven rebounds and three assists. Kasparas Jakucionis also made significant contributions with a career-high of 15 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Tomislav Ivisic achieved his second double-double of the season with 14 points and ten rebounds. Ben Humrichous continued his streak of scoring in double figures by adding 11 points and securing one offensive rebound.

Tre White provided additional support with six points and five rebounds, while Morez Johnson Jr. recorded two blocks for Illinois.

Illinois will continue their schedule by returning home to face Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday afternoon at State Farm Center.
