Illinois head coach Brad Underwood has announced the signing of Brandon Lee to a Big Ten Athletics Scholarship Agreement. Lee, a 6-foot-4 guard from Hillside, New Jersey, attends The Patrick School and plays under coach Chris Chavannes. He is considered a four-star recruit, ranked No. 89 overall by Rivals, No. 101 by 247Sports, and No. 121 by On3. He is recognized as the top player in New Jersey and the No. 18 shooting guard in the class of 2025 according to 247Sports.
Lee also competes for the New York Rens AAU program and was the third-leading scorer in the EYBL with an average of 23 points per game. He was named Breakout MVP of the 17U division by The Circuit and averaged 18.8 points and 3.4 rebounds at Peach Jam.
Internationally, Lee represented Puerto Rico at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup in June where he led his team in scoring with an average of 13.3 points per game, including a standout performance with 22 points against Team USA in the quarterfinals.
Underwood praised Lee's abilities saying, "Brandon is a gifted scorer and an aggressive offensive player who can score at all three levels." He added that Lee's experience facing high-level competition and his basketball family background contribute to his high basketball IQ.
Lee's father, Butch Lee, played for Marquette's national championship team in 1977 and was named tournament most outstanding player before being drafted into the NBA as the No. 10 pick. His brother Matthew Lee played for St. Peter's during their run to the Elite Eight in 2022.
Brandon Lee joins Keaton Wagler as part of Illinois' recruiting class for 2025.
