CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Destiny Jackson, a promising basketball talent from Chicago, has been named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Girl's High School Player of the Year Preseason Watch List. This recognition comes shortly after she signed her Big Ten Athletics Scholarship Agreement to join the Illinois women's basketball program next year.

Jackson is one of six players on the 50-player list who have committed to a Big Ten school this season. She currently plays for Whitney Young Magnet High School and competes in club basketball with Example Sports GUAA.

This marks the second consecutive year that a future member of the Illinois team has been recognized on this prestigious list. Current freshman Berry Wallace was also honored as a high school senior.

Destiny Jackson stands out as a 5'6" point guard at Whitney Young Magnet High School. According to 247Sports, she is ranked as the No. 28 prospect in the Class of 2025, No. 6 at her position, and No. 1 in Illinois. ESPNW's HoopGurlz rankings place her as a five-star recruit at No. 25 nationally.

Her achievements include being named to the AP First Team All-State in her junior year and receiving an honorable mention as a sophomore. Jackson has led her team to three Chicago Public League championships and earned First Team All-Conference honors three times.

Jackson's impressive high school statistics include averages of 16.6 points per game (PPG), 6.3 rebounds per game (RPG), and notable contributions in assists, steals, and blocks during her latest season.

Born on December 12, 2006, Destiny is supported by her parents Quentin Jackson and Teshunda Crockrell along with her three sisters Madison (Newell), Maliyah, and Deshyria.

In addition to local accolades, Jackson has gained national attention through participation in elite camps such as Elite 24 and Future 60 where she was named MVP. She also received an invitation to Stephen Curry’s camp last year where she played alongside current Illini player Mia Zenere on their club team Example Sports GUAA.
