Illinois secured a decisive 112-67 victory over Eastern Illinois in their season opener at the State Farm Center. The game featured standout performances from several players, including freshman Will Riley, who led with 31 points. Riley's debut set a new record for most points scored by an Illini freshman in their first game.

Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn also made significant contributions, scoring a career-high 21 points and hitting four three-pointers. Tomislav Ivisic recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds in his collegiate debut. Ben Humrichous added 14 points, while Kasparas Jakucionis contributed 11 points along with seven assists.

The team saw ten players score at least two points each, maintaining an undefeated streak of season openers under head coach Brad Underwood. After an initial close contest, Illinois took control following a scoring run initiated by Riley. The Illini dominated both the free-throw line and the rebounding battle throughout the game.

Illinois will next face SIUE at home on Friday night.
