Illinois women's tennis heads to TCU Jae Foundation Fall Open

The Illinois women's tennis team is set to compete in the TCU Jae Foundation Fall Open from October 31 to November 2 in Fort Worth, Texas. The event will take place at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center and will feature a hidden dual match format. Six student-athletes from the Fighting Illini will participate, with Violeta Martinez and McKenna Schaefbauer not making the trip.

A total of 18 teams are expected to be represented at the tournament, including BYU, Notre Dame, Arizona, Maryland, Rice, Texas A&M, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Baylor, SMU, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Kansas, LSU, and host team TCU.

Following this weekend's matches in Texas, Illinois will have two more chances to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships in November. The ITA Conference Masters and ITA Sectional Championship both run from November 7-10. At these events, players can secure their spots for the NCAA Championships scheduled for November 19-24 at Baylor University.

Current team rankings show Texas A&M at No. 1 and Oklahoma at No. 19. Other ranked teams include Texas Tech (No. 27), LSU (No. 28), Wisconsin (No. 30), Notre Dame (No. 32), SMU (No. 34), Baylor (No. 35), Northwestern (No. 37), BYU (No. 38), Arizona (No. 39), Illinois (No. 40), TCU (No. 46), Maryland (No. 50), Rice (No. 59), and Kansas (No. 60). Missouri and Cincinnati are also participating but are not currently ranked.
