Illinois falls short against Ole Miss in charity exhibition game

Illinois faced No. 24 Ole Miss in a charity exhibition game on Sunday afternoon at SJB Pavilion, where they were defeated 91-74. The proceeds from this preseason event went to CASA of North Mississippi.

Head coach Brad Underwood used the opportunity to give playing time to a diverse group of 13 student-athletes, including 10 players who made their debut for Illinois. Among those starting for the Fighting Illini were Kylan Boswell, Ben Humrichous, Tomislav Ivisic, Kasparas Jakucionis, and Tre White.

Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn led the team with 15 points coming off the bench, achieving a shooting record of 6-for-10 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Kasparas Jakucionis contributed significantly with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists, and one block. Tomislav Ivisic also scored 12 points along with six boards, two assists, and one steal.

Illinois is set to begin its regular season for 2024-25 at State Farm Center against Eastern Illinois on Monday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. CT. Tickets are available at FightingIllini.com.
